PROJECT BACKGROUND

Love Me Lex started it's journey with a small crowdfunded that launched on 27th September 2021.

Writer/Director, Sanja Katich, connected with Lesflicks for help amplifying the crowdfunder. Sanja's first short film, When Harri Met Salma, was already distributed via Lesflicks.com.

In early 2022, SapphicIFF called out, via Lesflicks social media and via our website, for projects seeking funding and support to submit to our slate.

Australian writer Sanja Katich, based in Perth, was one of those who responded asking if we would be interested in getting behind her rom-com series Love Me Lex.

Since the initial funding from Infinite Pies Productions and SapphicIFF, back in March 2022, a further AUD$35,000 was also secured in an award from Screen Australia at the end of 2022.

As a SapphicIFF project, Love Me Lex received a Letter of Intent and this series will be premiered exclusively on Lesflicks.com.

This success shows how the combination of Lesflicks' streaming experience and the industry insight of Karen and Naomi at SapphicIFF can generate real opportunities to access funding to create quality sapphic content.

SapphicIFF not only provides financial investment, but you also get circa-£20,000 worth of in-kind direct strategic support and guidance in the form of weekly meetings with Naomi. Sanja (writer/director) and Naomi have been meeting regularly since April 2022 providing a regular space to brainstorm, ask questions, demystify the industry, troubleshoot issues and put together marketing and distribution plans.

Since January 2023 the producer has attended a few meetings as this production gets ready for its festival debut.
